The XII Colloquium of AIEMA

The XII Colloquium of AIEMA (Association Internationale pour l’Etude de la Mosaïque Antique) will take place in Venice, from the 11 to 15 of September 2012, at the invitation of Prof. Carlo Carraro, Rector of Ca’ Foscari University, and upon the initiative of Prof. Giordana Trovabene.

The colloquium’s main theme deals with wall mosaics from their origins to the Middle Ages. Besides grottoes and nymphaea, attention is focused on basins in domestic contexts, basins in baths (public and private), ceilings and vaults in residential, monumental, cultic, and funerary contexts, etc. A second theme consists of new discoveries and unpublished works, comprising all types of mosaics (on walls as well as pavements).
